Planning a family visit, business trip or holiday? New airline services and partnerships are bringing additional travel options across Africa and Canada. Here are three developments to consider when planning your next journey.

Uganda Airlines prepares to launch Accra flights

Uganda Airlines has announced that its Accra service will begin on October 27, 2026, adding another option for travel between Uganda and Ghana. The airline is promoting the launch through its official channels.

The published routing is Entebbe–Lagos–Accra, so travelers should account for the Lagos stop when comparing journey times. Before booking, confirm the operating schedule, baggage allowance and any applicable transit requirements.

For travelers visiting relatives or building business connections between East and West Africa, this service offers another itinerary worth comparing.

Qatar Airways and WestJet expand Canadian connections

On October 26, 2026, Qatar Airways announced a codeshare partnership with WestJet, adding connections through Toronto and Montréal to Canadian cities including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Ottawa and Winnipeg.

The partnership connects more Canadian departure points with Qatar Airways’ international network, with Nairobi specifically named among its onward destinations. Qatar Airways also increased its Toronto and Montréal services to daily flights from October 25.

Travelers should check whether their full journey can be booked on one ticket, how baggage transfers work and how much time is available between flights. Availability will depend on the route and travel dates.

Ethiopian Airlines adds Nacala, Mozambique

Ethiopian Airlines has scheduled a new service to Nacala from October 27, 2026, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The outbound routing is Addis Ababa–Blantyre–Nacala, with the return flight operating from Nacala to Addis Ababa. Nacala becomes Ethiopian’s third destination in Mozambique, alongside Maputo and Beira.

For travelers heading to northern Mozambique, the new route provides another option to compare against flying into a different city and continuing overland.
